Your journey will begin in the capital of the Chechen Republic — Grozny, which will amaze you with hospitality and cordiality. Next, you will get acquainted with one of the largest lakes in the Caucasus – the pearl of the republic – Kezenoy Am.

On the way to Makhachkala, you will see unforgettable views of the famous Sulak Canyon, often compared with the Grand Canyon in America. You will travel through the historical monuments of Derbent, located on the coast of the Caspian Sea, and the ancient villages of Khunzakh and Matlas, museums of history and art.

Day 1
1

Grozny

Arrival at the airport of Grozny. Transfer to the hotel. Check in at the hotel***.

Lunch (on your own).

Departure to “the new Grozny” walking city tour which will show you that the city has changed a lot since the end of the second Chechen War - now it is absolutely safe and calm. You will visit the center of modern art, see the mosque "Heart of Chechnya" (one of the largest mosques in Russia and Europe), walk along the quay and learn about the history of Grozny. Return to the hotel.

Day 1

Grozny

Arrival at the airport of Grozny. Transfer to the hotel. Check in at the hotel***.

Lunch (on your own).

Lake Kezenoy-Am

Breakfast at the hotel.

Trip to mountain Lake Kezenoy Am, which is one of the most highland in Russia. It is located at the border of three republics at an altitude of 1869 meters above sea level, in size and depth it can be put on a par with Lake Ritza in Abkhazia, or Lake Goluboye (Tzerik-kel) in Kabardino-Balkaria. It is used as sports base for rowing. The lake is stunning with its beauty. Several rare species of fish listed in the Red book inhabit this lake.

Lunch at the café by the lake (on your own).

Free time at the lake.  You can enjoy the nature, take boat trips or horse rides (at extra fee).

On the way back you’ll visit another majestic mosque "Pride of Muslims" in Shali. More than thirty thousand people can be in the mosque, and including the surrounding area, about 100,000 believers can pray here at the same time. The white marble used in the construction came from the Greek island of Thassos. The interior decoration and lighting system of the "Pride of Muslims" is also impressive. In the center there is a 8-meter chandelier made with Swarovski stones, and the cornices and wall ornaments are decorated with gold.

Return to the hotel.

Day 2

Lake Kezenoy-Am

Breakfast at the hotel.

Trip to mountain Lake Kezenoy Am, which is one of the most highland in Russia. Today you’ll go to the Khunzakh plateau — the widest plateau of mountainous Dagestan. The area is 250 sq. km., height — 1000-1200 m above sea level. The plain is surrounded by high mountain ranges. The main attraction of the plateau is a canyon with steep edges. During the rainy season, the waters of the rivers descend into the canyon from a height of 50-80 m. The largest of the waterfalls is the Tobot, its height reaches 100 m.

Visit to the villages of Khunzakh and Matlas.

Lunch at the guest house (included).

Return to the hotel.

Day 4

Visit to the Kubachi ethno-house (it presents hundreds of exhibits from different eras, carefully selected by the owner), the Museum of Carpets and Decorative and Applied Arts, located in the Armenian-Gregorian Church. A trip to the well-known hovercraft «Lun» - a new attraction in the suburbs of Derbent, the so-called "Caspian monster".

Group transfer to Makhachkala Airport for flights departing after 8 p.m.

It was my first ascent and thanks to our guide Oleg it turned out to be a really succesfull one. The acclimatization hikes were properly planned. The guides were always ready to help, all the group managed to go up to the peak.

Most people think that Chechnya and Dagestan are very dangerous regions. I used to think so, too. But this trip to the North Caucasus has completely turned my idea of this area upside down! I was very surprisedI at how hospitable, responsive, kind and attentive the local people are. They really love their homeland...
Most people think that Chechnya and Dagestan are very dangerous regions. I used to think so, too. But this trip to the North Caucasus has completely turned my idea of this area upside down! I was very surprisedI at how hospitable, responsive, kind and attentive the local people are. They really love their homeland and try to show you all its beuty and uniqueness so that you fall in love with this region too! Another feature is the local cuisine. the food here is very tasty and varied - I've never tasted such dishes before! I'll certainly come back here again one day! Thank you
